Bridging to Juniors

I have a multi-level troop of 1st and 2nd year Brownies.  Only four of the nine Girl Scouts are bridging to Juniors this year and I want to make sure they don't feel like they are being pushed out of Brownies like some of the other poems I read.  So here is my poem, revised to remove any years or previous Daisy experience.  I hope the girls feel like they have earned an extra skill to fly but still feel like part of the same group.

Each Girl will also be given a certificate I created:

Leave No Trace with hand gestures

Our Brownies will be heading out for several hiking and camping activities this summer.  The Eco Friend badge in volunteer toolkit suggests covering the Leave No Trace principles for several drawing activities.  It reminded me of a video where the park rangers use hand signals to teach the 7 principles.  For step 1 you use 1 finger to gesture the principle, for step 2 you use 2 fingers, and so on for all 7 principles.  I think my campers would be more engaged with the principles if they also learned the hand signals, but I had a hard time remembering them and I would rather not be on my phone while trying to keep my campers off of their phones.  So into our camping pack will be a laminated copy of the Leave No Trace principles with hand gestures!

Dollar Tree Badge Presentation

I found these cute favor boxes at Dollar Tree on my last visit.  They are the perfect size for holding badges and a little piece of candy or treat.  I like simple badge presentations and don't want to make it too obvious who is getting the most badges and who hardly earned any.  Dollar Tree regularly has white ones in an 8 pack that can be decorated with seasonal stickers, but these were just perfect for spring presentation!

Added a fun patch for my busy little bees...
